Strength/Conditioning/Skills
camps in Coon Rapids will be held at Grand Slam Sports,
with three different sessions: the first starting the week of December
7 and the third running through the week of March 8.
This program
is designed to increase arm and body strength, flexibility, stamina
and running speed while preventing injuries! It has been used for 4
years with baseball players from Ridgewater College.
Athletes have had fewer injuries and increased throwing speeds.
Each 1.5
hour session will include:
• Elastic tubing series
• Medicine ball wall series & medicine ball throwing series
• Weighted ball throws
• Throwing mechanics with a baseball
• Mound work
• Position throwing mechanics
• Plyometrics
• Ladder drills
• Core strengthening exercises
• Hitting instruction
Sessions
are twice a week for 4 weeks. You reserve 2 days of the week and a 1.5
hour time slot during those days where you receive instruction along
with strength and conditioning training from a qualified
SFBS instructor every week at that time for the entire 4 week session.
SFBS
strives to be flexible to each student's specific needs - both in terms
of training objectives and in terms of time. You can register for your
preferred time by contacting
SFBS at 320-857-2244, or by downloading
and filling out a
Coon Rapids brochure.

Grand
Slam Sports is located at 2941 Coon Rapids Blvd. NW in Coon
Rapids, MN. From Hwy. 10, exit on Round Lake Blvd. Go south on Round
Lake Blvd. for 1.5 miles. Take a left on Coon Rapids Blvd. Go 1.1 miles
and Grand Slam Sports will be on your left.
We
have acquired a state-of-the-art pitching machine called the Pro Batter!
The Pro Batter (www.probatter.com)
that we have is the only one in the state of Minnesota
that is available for public use (Professional PX2
baseball model)! The
Pro Batter will be located at our beautiful
new Coon Rapids location (Grand Slam Sports). It is a pitching
machine that will give you the most real life game practice possible!
The Pro Batter has a big video screen where you watch a Major League
pitcher throw to you, the batter. The machine throws fastballs from
40-90 mph. It also throws sliders, curveballs and changeups without
you having to go to the machine and make an adjustment. It is all run
by computer and it is a great training tool for hitters!
Coaches, this facility would be an awesome place to bring
your team! Call
for more details about using this amazing machine!

The
mission of SFBS is to train and lead each student to
reach their full potential as a baseball player, an athlete, and as
a person.
SFBS
accomplishes this mission through private lessons and small group sessions
that are fun, informative, and personal.
SFBS
remains committed to a low student-to-teacher ratio (never more than
3-to-1!) so that we can properly train each player in the correct mechanics
of hitting, throwing, pitching, infielding, outfielding, catching, and
baserunning.
At
SFBS, we DO NOT use a cookie-cutter approach for teaching
each student. Through professional assessment and evaluation by our
outstanding instructors, each student is given
player-specific techniques so they will be able to, through application,
reach their highest potential.
Students
should wear comfortable baseball attire and bring their own baseball
glove and shoes to their lessons.
Thank
you to Premium
Waters, Inc. and Greg Nemec for supplying water for the camps.
